Letters to the Editor: Nancy Pelosi shows the need for more women leading government

I have not used the phrase “leadership by women” in this article because I have an issue with “leadership by women,” but I do love the idea of leadership by women. That has been President Obama’s style of leadership in his first few months in office. For him to win in the November election we need to create an environment where all people are treated with the respect that they deserve.

For him to win in the November election we need to create an environment where all people are treated with the respect that they deserve.

To help accomplish that, we need more women involved in government. Women bring different skills and abilities to government. Women also tend to be a lot more family friendly than men. Men have to go to work for a paycheck to provide for their families, while women will work for the government to increase their family’s income.

I am in favor of women being involved in government. However, women’s role in government is often minimized in the media. They are often seen as being only part of the solution that government needs to be successful in their lives and work.

We need to make sure that women are treated as equal partners in government, whether it’s in the White House or Congress. Women are not always the biggest voters but they are often the ones that make their voices heard on the issue. Women are the ones that most often say no to big spending programs and instead want smaller government.
