Yes, CAM can cure cancer: ‘Cancer Without Chemotherapy’ author

With cancer treatment being a daily struggle, for many patients the time for conventional medicine to act is well past. Increasingly, those who still want treatment often bypass their doctors and meet their chemotherapy-free hopes on their own.

Last year, Camille Edwards began a journey that takes her across the globe, from traditional Chinese medicine practices in her adopted home of China to Indian ayurvedic medicine practices in her adoptive home of Virginia. Her experience is outlined in “Cancer Without Chemotherapy: A Totally Different World” (Potomac Books; $24.95), out now.

What drove you to write this book?

Cancer is a most basic disease, but it’s not treated as a basic disease. People are dealing with it every day. I started writing because I wanted to understand. I thought it was fascinating to find out all the different ways to treat cancer. I knew I was going to get some aggravation for the book, but for me the science and the science and the medical marijuana are side issues. The message I think is so strong: Don’t be afraid to explore alternative approaches to treatment.

What are some of the most unconventional ways that treatment can be taken?

I know lots of people who take organic chemistry therapy and organic medicines and steam. They put things in it to rid their bodies of everything in their bodies that would induce cancer. It allows them to have a better quality of life. I think it’s great.

What kind of research did you do for this book?

I had a doctor who deals with cancer in Asia read it. It’s been a pleasure to work with him. Then I’ve studied natural systems of medicine, the world’s oldest form of medical care. My favorite is Indian ayurvedic healing. It’s based on the earth. Ayurvedic medicine places the mind and the body on the same plane.

Are these approaches proven to work?

My doctor assures me, because of how my body is wired, the answers are in my DNA. I’m just doing research. I need to learn more. But I would be remiss to not explore this world and to learn enough to be able to use it in the treatment of myself.
